The 312 in my 56 is knackered. so i am assembling a 64 truck 292 to replace.

In the 56 workshop manual it shows a spacer behind the harmonic balancer, and no
oil slinger. The spacer wasn't installed when i dis-assembled the front of the 312.

The truck engine has the oil slinger, but i do not know if there should be a spacer too?

If it does, does anyone know the thickness?

Thanks.

I think that is the front seal.

I think you are right Glen!

That is the longest "senior moment" i've had for a while...

I will assemble with the slinger off the 292 (312 didn't have one).

Thanks.

Starting in 1956, the slinger was added (part number 6310) to the crank shaft. Later parts manuals shows this part.
