I read back thru the PVC Conversion Thread to look for answers. I did not find an option that seemed possible. I want to block off the road draft tube. If I remember correctly, NAPA sells a plate and gasket that will do this. I have a previous valley pan that has a groumet and baffle which will take a PVC valve. Once I swap the valley pan and plug in the PVC Valve to the groumen in the valley cover, where can I plug the other end of the hose to? How many options are there? I have a 272 with a two barrel stock carb, I dont see any place to connect it there.

The factory setup on '64 trucks used a threaded port in the manifold at the forward base of the carb. If you can find a carb spacer with a vacuum port, it makes a short connection to the pcv valve. If you can locate a '64 truck in a boneyard you might get the oem package.

OK Mark, part of my problem is stock 2 barrel intake (ECWS425). Carberator something added later but no port for PVC. I do see some kind of a vent into the intake but its not plugged, so probably is used for something else. Ill look at that option again. Thanks.

2 barrel carb spacers with a suitable nipple for connecting to a PCV were produced by FoMoCo in the tens (hundreds) of thousands. These were used on their standard V-8 car and truck engines. They are easy to find at the wrecking yard of your choice. They also turn up on ebay, swap meets and yard sales all the time.

I had no idea. So using a donar valley pan with the hole and baffle for a pvc and finding one of these carb spacers will work. I just plug the pvc valve into the groumet in the valley pan and the other end into the carb spacer with a nipple? Sounds doable. Thanks for the tip. Any recommendations on a good choice in PVC Valves?

Do you have the original 2 barrel which is fastened to the manifold with 3 bolts or a newer 2 barrel which is fastened with 4 bolts? I think gekko is talking about the newer 4 bolt style.

Once you get the plumbing sussed out all you need is a valve for an engine of similar displacement. I use a (Gawd help me) GM valve sized for a 305 on my 292. It just needs to be a tight fit in the grommet. Also you should baffle it on the underside of the valley pan to prevent sucking too much oil up.

I've got one in good shape except that a bolt sheared off in one of the coil bracket mounts. I tried to extract with an easy-out but that broke also, so it needs to be drilled out. $125 + the ride.

Does anyone know if there is a three bolt carb spacer available with a nipple in it that would work for the pvc convrsion?

I don't know if there is but there are aluminum spacers that could be drilled and tapped for a nipple.

Ok Charlie, I will consider that option. I guess I need to see what carb I have and go from there to find a spacer that might work. Im considering going that route and saving up for Mummert Intake.

Marc, can you get me the ID Number off this manifold? Im looking for an ECZ9425 B

A few years ago I got some y-block stuff out of Kelly's Auto Wrecking, south of Arlee. Real good yard. They might have something. Kelly's Auto Salvage

Hello Darrell,
I don't know if you have completed your PCV installation, but I have just installed a PCV valve on my 1957 (with 292 and 2-barrel carb), so thought it might be similar to yours. My carb has the 4-bolt base, but the procedure would be the same for the 3-bolt base if you decide to drill and tap the intake manifold as I did.
I used a T-bird valley pan that I bought on Ebay that had the existing vent hole and baffle plate under the vent to accept a grommet and PCV valve. The PCV valve I used was for a 1966 Fairlane with 289 engine (bought from Rockauto). The PCV valve has the correct flow direction for installing the base in the grommet and then venting upward towards the intake.
I drilled and tapped the intake manifold just behind the carburetor base, using a 1/8" NPT pipe tap and then installed a 90 degree fitting to accept a 1/2" ID hose from the PCV valve and this allows a very short hose connection to the PCV valve. The 1/8" pipe size seems to be adequate for the PCV flow as I have driven the car and taken it up to high road speeds and everything seems to perform well. I made a cover plate from 1/8" steel to cover the old road draft tube opening on the lower block.
Several things I have noticed since the installation: As others have mentioned, the "gassy" smell in the garage after driving the car seems to have gone away and the underside of the engine stays much cleaner and drips have all but disappeared from where oil spray had collected with the old draft tube.
Good luck with your installation.
