hi everyone

just join and had a question.

i just got a 56 ford customline 3 speed for my wife and wanted to know how dificult would it be to make it an automatic. it would be her daily driver plus we have a baby and just thinking about safety it would be better for her with an automatic.

first time owner of a ford and i love it

hope i can get some help about my question and others to follow

If you can obtain '54 to '56 pieces, the swap is a bolt-in.  If you want to move to a more modern transmission, adaptors are available but the swap is more involved.  Best scenario would be to find a '56 donor car with the same type engine as your car (6 or V8) and get all the parts needed, like throttle linkage, steering column, transmission, converter, flywheel, etc.  Good luck with your project.
