Thanks, NoShortcuts. I bought a 272 a long time ago and never checked it it is a 1954  239. oh well.

Bob, my understanding is that there was an early version 239 and a later 239 when Ford released the OHV engine in model year 1954.

I THINK that the early 239s have different diameter camshaft bearings than the later 239, 272, 292, and 312 engines.

Other than that, IF you have the later 239, many parts will interchange between the '54 through '64 engine offerings.

Some LIKE the short stroke of 239, 256 engines.  -It's all a matter of what you want it to do.  Smile
