Thank you.I thought I would mount it under the dash.Since I am not using any of the OEM heater, ducting etc I have plenty of room.

56Roger (6/18/2014) You're welcome. On the other hand I must say I put a Newport electric unit into my 56. Works great, perfect fit, simple job except the fact I'm getting too old to be working under dashes anymore even though it never was any fun. Ever.
Roger, where did you pick up the electric wiper unit?
Thanks, Al.

Slick, I've got the same electric one on my Customline. It works great but is a PIA to get the linkages on under the dash.

I have two of these units. https://www.newportwipers.com/products.php?year=1955-56&make_id=4Work a treat though they dont sweep as much as the original vacuum wipers. With post to Aus they still represent good value and they fit up to all the original fittings. Make sure you get the extended shaft if you buy a unit.
I have just emailed for a freight price
*Thanks guys for the info*

I am under the dash at the moment, hooking up heater hoses and trying to sort out the mess they made wiring the car with trailer cable
It already has an electric wiper fitted (out of something..) but no park feature and held in with 1"x3/16" strap and large hose clamp...

I was given a good idea yesterday on how to run vacuum wipers without engine vacuum! A friend told me yesterday that if you take one of those little air pumps for aftermarket air horns and tie the wipers to the suction side of the air pump, this will give you constant wipers! The can simply be run on a toggle switch and the pump can be hidden under the dash. Worth a try don't you think???

This sucks! Not your idea but this 12V vacuum pump for 15 bucks. It seems a bit noisy from the demo on the page but it may be worth trying vs. 200 bucks.

I have a vacumn pump left over from a car I owned that needed it to make the brakes work.I had thought about it but it is LOUD! I never thought about one for an air horn.
