The 292 in my '58 Custom 300 dies when I remove the battery. I thought maybe the alternator was bad, had it checked and its fine. I replaced my voltage regulator cause it looked caroded but still dies.

Could it just be my electric conversion?

I have an Accel points eliminator kit in it.

If what you mean is the car quits running when you disconnect the battery-good. A lot of modern electronics don't like running off an alternator without the dampening effect of the battery on the output. It's possible to wire the car run directly off the alternator. Don't ask how I know.

Is the alternator charging the battery ok?  If so, there is no problem

So its okay if the car dies when the battery is disconnected?

Correct.  Cars with solid state components need that battery to be connected all the time.  It acts like a big condenser, smoothing out a lot of electrical 'noise'.
