Dual exhaust manifold in pickup

Hello I have put a set of dual exhaust on my f100
192 however after putting the engine back in I see that there is not a lot of clearance with the clutch shift mechanism. Has anyone tried this or is there a lot of stuff that has to be moved. These are the standard dual exhaust exiting out the back not the rams horns. Any thoughts or ideas would
Be appreciated
Cause I really don't want
To have to go back to the crossover design.

Since this is a custom installation I reckon you could have a down pipe made up to clear? I have seen a Y powered Ford pickup with that manifold set up and that was what he had done.

I put the manifolds that came I ff a thunderbird. It's the style where it'd it out the back. The issue I see it the cluch linkage seems to be in the way is there a way of making a down pipe where the flange will clear? Right now I couldn't even grease the linkage cause the manifold is In the way. Thoughts?

There is a way to accomplish anything.  The question is will it be more cost effective to make what you have work or to get a set of ramshorns.

We don't know which F100 you have.  I do know that it has been done on the '61-'64 series.  They couldn't use bends because a radius which is tight enough was not available so they just welded angle cut pieces of straight pipe together in a way that it cleared everything.  Far from ideal but it got dual exhaust installed.  There were no pictures or anyhing, just something an owner of one of those trucks did one time.  I also think he used passenger car manifolds, rather than T-bird manifolds, if there is a difference.

dual ex. some time ago i did a 1956mercurey used a pasenger side manifold on driver side,blocking of the crosover hole and was able to use a pre formed u and custom pipe to clear  things. it was not entirely  a thing of buty but the budget had run out. sold the truck so unable to show a picture,saw the truck this summer and it is still the same,as well as the converted ign useing dura spark has had no isues ,after 10 years

you can probably get enough money out of a purist for the TBird manifolds to buy you a set of Rams horns, otherwise I think Patriot headers for the trucks are only around $169.00 or somewhere under 200.

My truck is a 63. I am not sure if they are thunderbird manifold or not I bought them

Of them. How would you know if they are thunderbird manifolds verses a mercury or some other car?

Well I now know after looking at the numbers that they are a for car exhaust manifold. The issue is the Lh manifold tube drops very quickly when it exits. Is there a manifold that does not drop as drastically when the tube exits? If so I could get a flange on it.

You just need ramshorns if you want to stick with manifolds, or headers.

This is actually a pretty easy thing to do IF YOU ARE NOT A PUREST.  Take the large size, rear dump exhaust manifolds from '57 or later pass cars and swap them side for side.  They will then dump near the front of the engine, so you will need to have pipes fabricated to curve down and run under the rear motor mounts on the bell housing, then to the mufflers of your choice.  In Dyno testing a few years ago the later pass car and the rams horns did just about as well for power and torque and of course this eliminates any problems with the clutch.  I believe this trick will work for all pickups but it is easy to try.  You can also use two right sides so the passenger side dumps to the rear and the driver's side dumps to the front.

Well the previous owner had mad dual exhaust out of the crossover manifolds he capped the passenger side and routed the driver side down in by the fuel pump. I thought that was dangerous so I took that off. What are your thoughts on that? Is there a danger of a ruptured fuel line getting onto the hot manifold?

I had a '56 pickup which had the original small X manifolds.  A previous owner had put a "U" bend off the top of the left manifold curving around and down past the fuel pump. It was more or less stock on the right side.  Fuel leakage would not be good but I was more concerned about vapor lock in the pump from the relatively nearby heated ex pipe.  That was not a problem in a year or so of running the truck with that setup. So be aware of these potentials but don't worry about it. 

I then went to Rams Horns and 2 1/4" pipes.  Even the tired engine in the truck ran much better with the bigger exhaust system.  From your pics you already have the manifolds, put them on reversed and see if you like it and where exactly they dump.   For duals on a truck at a bargain price the reversed pass car manifolds are probably the least expensive option.

This is on the 272 in the Mainline. A similar way to change to duals on cars. This is just a more radical bend. The other side is just capped off.

doug is 50% to doing the dual easey,use the large size dual on the right(pas side) use the single  pasenger side on the left ,block off the port wher crosover went then get a preformed piece and it will be easey from there and will look ok the one i did the header pipe bolted richt to the pasenger  side dual type manifold.the custom made pipe on the left willbe easey and you will have a tideyer drivers side ex than the rams horn
