By the book it’s 35-45 ft/lbs for the 272 and 292.  For whatever reason, there’s a footnote in my ’57 Shop Manual for the 312 saying 15-18 ft/lbs.  I have to believe that is a typo regarding the asterisk pointing to that footnote.  This is not the first discrepancy I've come across in this particular shop manual.
