I just pulled my gas tank out and cleaned it and I have a newly rebuilt carb. I have the manual fuel on my 292 is there a trick to getting fresh fuel from the tank to fill the float bowl
Or does it just have to crank to get it sucked up there? I was thinking about manually priming the carb with fuel to get it
Running but is there a better way?

depending on what carb you have , but if its a Holley just pour some fuel into the vent tubes and fill the bowls . Its should start and I would say in short time it will suck that fuel from the tank..

You can use the method noted above above or get a small pump action oiler , fill with gas and squirt the gas right down the carb venturi's  Not a lot, just a couple of squirts at a time.   Make sure you open up the butterfly's so the gas goes down. You may have to do this more than twice until the pump pulls up the gas from the tank.

Probably dosent need to be mentioned but Beware of backfires through the carb---don't look down the carb when firing just in case. Dosent happen often, but eyebrows are a good thing.

good advice, aswell move the gas container well away after the carb gets a shot. i put aspot of oil in the gas, eliminates cyl wash.
