You don't say what kind of compressor you're trying to use, but the old adjustable C compressor works great.

Hmmmm....

SOMETIMES the valve spring retainer will be 'stuck' to the valve spring keeper 'lock' assembly.

I've sometimes struck the outer surface of the spring retainer a glancing blow with a brass hammer to break things free before using the 'C' valve spring compressor.

Hope this helps.  Smile

lay the heads on a board ,valves down ,take a deep socket be sur it misses the keepers, smack the socket with a large hamer the keepers will fall out make sur  you ar in a clean area so you can find them, then buy a c clamp compressor to asemble them. dont get carried away with the hamer, experiment with blows ,works great.
