Are Y Block Fuel Pumps interchangeable? Im looking for the ones with the glass bowl. You can not buy them any longer, but you can get kits for some of them. About all I have been able to determine is some had the glass bowl on the top and some on the bottom. Other difference is some are equipped to run vacum wipers and some are not.

So far, any replacements I have looked at are the big steel canister on the bottom.

With the exception of the 1954 239 and 256 engines all Y-block fuel pumps interchange.

You can remove the metal canister on the bottom and replace it with a glass bowl if you are trying to make it look original    Carl

Adding a bit more detail to what 2721955meteor brings up, I’ll add that all the Ford FE (352, 390, 428 and others) fuel pumps from 1958-1976 also work on the 1955-1964 Y engines.  Only the early FE pumps will accommodate the lower glass bowl though.  Most newer pumps have crimped housings rather than those that are more serviceable with screws.

Thanks for all the good information. Sounds like I have lots of options.
