Recently purchased a 55 lincoln capri from a barn where it had sat for 42 years. The car is all original and all there , the 341 Y block in it is stuck and won't move. What is the best way to get it moving? Should I just pull it and rebuild it and not bother trying to get it to move.
Any input would help, I'm new to this thanks Tim

After sitting that long chances are you will have to pull the engine and have it gone through. You could try soaking the pistons in something like Marvel Mystery Oil, poured through the spark plug holes. Give it several days and try to turn the engine, repeat. May take a while but has worked on some pretty well stuck engines.

You might want to pull the valve covers, loosen the valve adjustment, and check for stuck valves. Cool find, the first family car I can remember is a 55 Capri, two tone green, with green leather.

It"s a lot more work and the cost of the gaskets, but I would pull it down and make sure everything is good. Might save you a lot more in the long run rather than risking damage.

I would go with miker,valves sticking (hear on the west coast of bc) is the most comen for not turning over, but in adition remove all plugs and pour a mixyure of light oil and diesel fuel down all the plug holes ,leave it sit for several daysthen try rocking the engine back and forth. if it turns spray wd 40 on all valve stems,tap them with a hard wood piece to find the sticky vave. if that does not work ,pull her out and go whole hog on rebuild.

Brake fluid can sometimes also work as well as acetone with transmission oil mixtures.
