Can't seem to position Exhaust Pipe on 1955 ford

I finally got my engine in thanks to everybody's help. I finally put the bell housing on the tranny and put in my self without sited help but I can't seem to position the exhaust pipe to put on the manifold studs. I try putting it through the frame but there seems to be no clearance to turn it to go on the studs.

I think you will either have to unhook the mounts and raise the engine a little, or take the manifold off to get the studs through the flange holes.  Some replacement exhaust pipes came in two pieces because of this problem.

Regarding exhaust pipe replacement.I did my 56 this winter.With the mainifolds off I still could not get either pipe in place.With the motor lifted off mounts as high as possible I was able to JUST get the pipes in by turning several positions until they just squeezed in,especially tight on the left side because of steering box.We had a discussion on this topic on another site and one or two said the pipes would have to be cut into 2 and put back together and one fellow remembers the lower part of frame beng removed and welded back in.With patience and correct choice of words  the pipes will go without modification.This was with dual exhaust(no front crossover pipe)Regards Mark

SmileI finally got the exhaust pipe bolted up and I have the manifold that has one pipe hook up in the back and a cross over pipe in the front. I first removed the right manifold and took out number  1 and 2 spark plugs and snaked the exhaust pipe in from the front and positioned it in both frame chanels then put the exhaust manifold back and bolted it up.
