Is there a ford 9 inch that will bolt in to my 56 lincoln premiere?

What kind of rear end width does your Lincoln currently have? The overall width as measured to the outside of the hubs would be a starting point. The other measurement that comes in handy is the width of the housing itself without the backing plates in place. A spring perch measurement (center to center) would also help.

Measure your rear end like Ted recommended . I have a 58 Mercury rear here that might work. It would also have the 5x5 Lincoln bolt pattern

I have a couple of extra rear housings out of two 57 Lincoln's. I used the bodies to restore my convertible but kept all the mechanical items. Is yours bad or are you thinking about an upgrade?

Why would you want to put a 9 inch in your Lincoln, the original rearend is as strong or even stronger that a 9 inch.

I bought a 1958 Edsel rear end and it seems to be a straight bolt in for my 56 Mercury. The reason for the swap is unlimited gear ratios and easier to work on. I'm assuming the Merc and Lincoln have the same Dana rear ends.
