I have a 292 Y block and a 352 FE block. Both appear to use the same fuel pump. Is there a difference on the fuel side? I would think a 352 or 390 would consume fuel at a faster rate but have not found anything on this. If the pump arm and diaphragm are the same, the only thing that could change is the check valves. Are the fuel pumps interchangeable????
Thanks for any help,

An FE fuel pump will work just fine on a Y.

I don't think the check valves would be different. I rebuilt my double action fuel pump myself and all the check valves do is allow for one way movement of the fuel while the pump is moving the diagphram up and down.
If everything else is the same and it will bolt up the same long as you attach the inlet to the inlet and the outlet to the outlet it should work the same.

The check valves also act to keep fuel in the line from the carb, lots of time a bad check valve, the fuel drains back and results in hard starting, an often overlooked problem on hard starting vehicles.
