I ordered a water pump today so I took my old off, there's a 1-1/16" nut that is on the pump that also hold the power steering pump and there's a smaller fitting that screws into this 1-1/16" nut, can anyone tell me how to get the nut out and what is it's purpose? Thanks.

That 1 1/6” bolt simply holds the power steering bracket in place by screwing into an existing water port on the water pump. Most of these come out using a ½” drive ratchet but the tough ones might require a break over handle. Here’s a picture of the bolt I think you are referring to. Be sure to use some thread sealer when reinstalling.

It is but mine has a hole where a smaller adapter screws into for some unknown reason. The adapter doesn't appear to have a purpose . Thanks for your response.

Removed the water pump, took out the large nut that holds the bracket on , mine is hollow and is threaded and had an adapter screwed into it. I will post a picture to see if anyone cant tell me the purpose of the adapter.

Is it an electric switch? I've seen temperature sensors there. May have been an electric fan switch too. Chuck

Up here in the frozen north, that's where a block heater was installed. Here's 2 pics of 2 different engines. Barry L in Manitoba
