Working on 1954 ford 239 ohv. The problem is car will start and run seams to be missing. Took it for a ride ran so so and was missing than let out a back fire and died no spark. The car was towed and started ran for 20 min. at home and next day went for a ride went about 2 blocks and died again no spark again the coil and points and condenser were changed not long ago. any info would be great help thanks and the car is still 6v with a 12v in trunk with a separate push button under dash and 12v solenoid just to help spin over during starting?

If you have a spare condenser laying around or the one you took out, give that a try.

I vote for the condenser too. If you still have the old one (and it ran ok) reuse that.

OK I will try the condenser will not be able to try for a few days but will let you know if it works thanks Ryan

OK changed the condenser and the points wire in the distributor it looked like a few bare spots car has been running but don't trust to go very far yet hope It has solved the problem!!!!

You might also carefully check the ground Wire between the Points and Ground. They can "make and break" contact as the Plate moves if they are deteriorating even though they look OK if You don't check carefully. You can also purchase a replacement power supply Wire to the Points as You indicated it looks iffy.
