3 years ago I did the Bendtsen's aod Adapter in my 55 which uses a scrub high torque starter My starter start sounding funney so I pull it out today and it was full of rust.  Has anyone else see this, or header of this?  I called Bentsen's  and talked to Bob about this today and he didn't have any ideal why starter is full of rust but I'm think That I saw something about this problem on 1 of the threads a few years ago but can't fine it now

The adaptor setup is intended to use that starter?. Not sure if I may have heard something about a similar problem somewhere? My impression is that some mini starters are a suspect design. Considering that they are a relatively new idea, they seem to show up at swap meets quite often. As for the rust problem, could it be condensation or road wet is somehow getting into the case? I have heard of one case where the starter's drive tore the ring gear off of the flywheel, because it engages from the wrong side in a Y-block..

Several of the high torque starters use the same unit with a bolt on adapter. This one has no adapter and bolts to the transmission adapter plate. I've seen the same unit fitting several different cars with adapters. Never been able to find a way to buy them plain. Now, for the rust, the first one I had wouldn't turn over after sitting for a winter. Had to dissasemble it and clean it out. Talked to a circle track guy that uses the same starter and he said when they stored their car the took the starter out. Seems to collect moisture and rust up a bit. I don't know why but it's happened to me. Chuck

I have same problem. Water is coming trough hood hole and between hood and firewall and drains to the starter.
Winter hibernation in oil is my solution for bendix rust problems for now. Im also calling the better solution. I tried motor silicone for better water resistance but turned out that actually keeped the water inside better.

Actually dragster's PG adapter with Mopar starter have similar problem.
When it bolts upside down, draining hole is pointing to the sky.
