The steel vacuum line that runs from the 4000 tpot carb to the distributor, is it a part that can be purchased or do the line and the fittings have to be purchased and made yourself?
If so what size is the line and fittings and can copper be used?
1955 Ford Fairlane, with tpot 4000 Vb 272.

I believe it is 1/8". With that said if you can get a photo of one on an engine you can make it. The bender and flare tool are available from many suppliers including Harbor Freight and Eastman. The 1/8" steel line is normal brake line which is available at a good parts store at various lengths, that way you get both ends you need. Make it first out of a coat hanger to get it to look correct, then do it with the tubing. Good luck

The tube nuts are referred to as double flare nuts and may be tough to find. You do not use a flaring tool for these; the nut and seat form the bulge. I think Dormann might offer the nuts.

1/8" line is very easy to bend. I don't know if those fitting are double flares or not?

I have used the brake tubing (bent with a common brake tubing plier) - with rubber tubing ends slipped over the original "stubs" to get things moving along. The rubber ends make it a bit easier to hook up a "tee" for a vacuum gauge tap while troubleshooting, etc.

The TBird parts suppliers have the vacuum line that goes from the carb to the distributor on a 55. I assume the sedans are the same as the TBirds. I see it listed in the CASCO catalog. Part # 12370AL. It comes with the fittings.

I ordered one from T-Bird yesterday, I didn't ask but I'm hoping it's already bent and not a line that has to be bent.

You might have to tweak it a little as, I believe, there is a height difference because of the tach drive, but it should be minor adjusting.
