A friend said he has a 292 running truck engine that I can have. He also said he has a 312 engine complete, but in pieces available. I'm interested in the heads from the 312. What would be best? Any numbers, etc would be appresiated Thanks Jim

As far as heads go look for ecz-g. They may even be posted. If it were me I would grab all of it and build a bad ass stroker to embarrass the small block scrubby crowd.

There’s really no such thing as a 312 specific cylinder heads as the 292 and 312 typically shared the same heads. But the heads do vary between the years with 1957-59 being the pinnacle in cylinder head development. The big intake valve heads would be ‘ECZ-G’, ‘113’, and ‘B9AE’ for the smaller combustion chambers. The ’B9TE’ and ‘417’ heads are also big valve but the combustion chambers are much larger which necessitates using pistons with 10+cc domes to get the compression ratio back to the same as the smaller chambered heads. The earlier 1956 ‘ECZ-C’ heads would have the intermediate sized intake valves. The later model 312 marine engines seem to be fitted with whatever cylinder was available at the time of manufacture.
