Have any of you tried, used, or are using these Air Cleaners on the Holly 4000 tea-pot 4bbl carbs. on your y-blocks? I am interested in using them on my 312 2x4 build. I have an Edelbrock 257 intake and a pair of 56 bird carbs, and a pair of 56 Lincoln carbs. I have not made a decision as to which set of carbs to use. I will probably experiment with both. anyway I am looking for some feed back on the air cleaners, as how they fit, are they to restrictive? etc. any help or information would be appreciated. I like the "D" shape of these air cleaners. any air cleaners I use will have to be able to clear the radiator support rods on my hoodless and fenderless chopped and channeled coupe. Thanks for any help anyone can provide.-------Jim http://www.spotlitekustomacces... I also posted this on the street section, in case some do not read both sections.------Jim

Since I run dual quads with the factory air cleaner I am always looking for something else torun at different events. I've looked at these and feel they may not have the necessary space under them to fit the Holley 4000's. I would call and ask for the thickness. The Holley's have a lot on top. Good Luck

Apropos of nothing, really, one of the originals is on evilpay, about the same price. I remember these, and they're not as nice as the repops. I also seem to remember one that had a "thunderbird" in the expanded metal instead of the "V8". But that's a long stretch of almost 50 years on my memory. Single carb, not D shaped for dual quads.

Miker, Thanks for the link. I am still doing some research and trying to make up my mind on these darn air cleaners. got my Manifold back from the powder coaters today and put the carbs on to see how it looked. now not only am I concerned about the height, there may not be enough spacing from air cleaner stud to air cleaner stud to accommodate the 2 even being "D" shaped . Thanks for helping.---Jim

DryLakesRacer, Thanks for your input, I appreciate it. the height was one of my concerns, but it turns out it may not be the only one. got my manifold back from the powder coater today and put the carbs on. the spacing from air cleaner stud to air cleaner stud may be to narrow even with the "D" shape of the air cleaners. I was hoping to find some one who had some hands on experience with them bad or good . Thank you for your information, I appreciate it. ---Jim

The distance between my carb studs is 7-1/4". I would ask the seller to place 2 flat sides together and measure between the center of the holes. I used Carter WCFB's and the carbs are very close together. The Holleys have a little more room I think. The stock intakes, both 56 and 57, have wider centers I believe. I also believe the Edelbrock 255 has wider centers. You can see how mine worked out by searching dual quads here or on YouTube " yblock ford dual quads". I'm not sorry I did the dual quads I love them even with the very slight stumble when starting by using them progressive. When the engine is cold I need to floor the pedal not only to set the rear choke but to squirt fuel to the front cylinders. Good luck

DryLakesRacer, Thanks for the u-tube info. I measured the stud to stud distance on my intake with the carbs installed. I also got 7 1/4 ". they appear to be the same with wcfb's , or tea-pots. thank you for your info. I am going to e-mail the seller and ask for more dimensions on the air cleaners, including as you suggested , about stud to stud. Thank You.-----Jim

I have run a set of those on a factory E setup and they worked well.Mine were original, but I am sure the repro's are the same.

ecode ragtop, Thank you for your information. I was hoping to find someone who had a pair and actual experience with them, whether new or original . You, and another fellow on the Ford Barn have originals, although his are on a flathead, he said they worked well on the tea-pot carbs just as you report. I am waiting for an answer from the seller on some of the dimensions at this point, but it looks like I may take a chance on them.. Thank you for taking the time to reply to my questions.-----Jim Hackenberger, Palmer Alaska
