So here's my dalima I've been been getting my old truck together, I checked for spark and there was nothing!! So pulled the cap checked the points, the rotor replaced the wires , plugs and ignition coil still nothing this is on a 56 Mercury 312 with WCFB carb, I'm wondering if I'm missing something just trying to see it fire been sitting for 20+ years

Ahhhh yeah, soooo, ahhhh ok. Try making a jumper wire directly from the battery to the coil. If you have spark at the coil then the problem is with the distributor.

And after 20 years of sitting most of or all of the valves will be stuck.

Double check your ground, you can jumper from battery to block to test. OOPs missed Grumpy1, but I concur.

Grumpy's on to something. If the valves are stuck & you crank it over, you may end up with some bent pushrods. Best remove the valve covers & lube the rocker assemblies well & let sit for a while. I believe some recommend tapping the valve spring retainers to ensure that the valves aren't stuck. Others here may have further suggestions..

Sorry I for got to put that in the facts I have removed the valve covers got the valves all lubed up already, turned it over for a few seconds watching the valves move up and down???? If there moving smoothly is there still chance of them bad being bent? This here is my first time getting a old car/truck fired up

This is what I do. Remove the cap, turn the key to on, with screwdriver reach in an break the points. You should have a spark to ground if not check the ignition switch. If you do, remove a sparkplug, reattach the wire, set the case of the plug to ground or attach a wire to it. Turn the engine over and watch the plug gap. If no spark it is either the condenser or coil... Good luck
