I had my front end alignment checked after installing the Aerostar front springs and it did need some shims. (Very reputable shop specializing in old/classic under car work) Even tho I did not need a new idler arm the owner told me a bearing where the bushing is should help the car return to center easier. I remember some GM and Chrysler products had these and at one time adding one to a GM car without power steering was called " poor mans power steering". Has anyone ever done this to a Ford or know if an idler arm bearing is available for them. Thanks

I installed an idler arm with the bearing on one of my Fords back in the day. Worked fine as I recall. Don't know if they are still available.

They pop up on EBAY occasionally. Not so much lately.
