My 55 is wired for the Ford alternator which I would like to keep when it gets a Y block again and was wondering if there are brackets available or is it time to make my own.

I got one of Mummerts brackets and love it. It looks great on my engine.

He's looking for brackets for a Ford alternator.  Mummert and Speedway brackets are for GM.

I don't think you will find a Ford bracket.  That is hardly done in the aftermarket.  I think some later Y's, maybe only 1964, did have alternators but they are extremely rare.

Can a GM bracket be modified easily to fit a Ford alternator?  For that matter, the stock generator brackets may be easy to modify for the job.

You should be able to use the Stock Gen. Brackets with a little work. A spacer to fill the opening in the Bracket on the Block where the Alt. is shorter and the adjustment arm can be reshaped to work with the Alternator. I think there have been several of these done by other Members on the Site.

Mummert has one that I absolutely think Ford would have designed it that way if the car came with an alternator.
My price was $100.00 which I thought was pricey until I got it and the quality is unmatched.

I am going to do it cheap so I will make what I have work before spending anywhere close to 100 for brackets, that is money that can be used for building the motor.

Green Sales has 3 of the front brackets, 2 of side brackets and none of the adjuster bracket.
This is what the brackets look like

I will have to check a local old junkyard that has some early 60s ex state trucks and see if there are any left that had a alternator,I did get a set for my brother in law who had a 57 wagon at the time and hope there is another set. I do not live far from green sales so I might have to go there if I come up empty at the junkyard.
