I was surfing the internet recently and came across a couple of interesting sites. There are sites for US 30 Dragway in Indiana and Oswego Dragway in Illinois. People are trying to compile old photos and information on these tracks. I made many trips down both of these drag strips in the 55-63 time frame. If you don't find them via Google, I will go get the addresses and post them. I also ran at Union Grove and Lake Geneva in Wisconsin. In recent years I have run at Cordova, but didn't in the "old days".

I'll have to dig up some old pics from Oswego. I still have the little pamphlet about racing your car at Oswego they used to hand out when you signed in to race.

You guys are lucky to still have your pics and pamphlet from Oswego.I ran there in 59-61 quite a bit,but all my stuff from those days went to the custody of an ex-wife several years ago.I'd like to have it all back, but not if it means taking her along with it.

About 1965? I was out on the strip, standing by the stage lights at US-30, when a guy who used to campaign a 427 Thunderbolt launched his brand-new, ultra-light, fiberglass Mustang powered with twin Turbine-iques. The xmas-tree light system had just been installed, and when he hit the ignition button the car went totally out of control and took out the tree. Does ANYONE remember this incident or his name? They used to promo his Thunderbolt grudge-match meets on WLS AM radio a week in advance. (SUNDAY-SUNDAY-SUNDAYYY!!!!!) This has been bugging me for about 10 years! The way things are going, it won't be long before I forget my OWN name.

SUNDAY SUNDAY SUNDAY.....ah yes..old Jan Gabriel. The US 30 track itself is still there but a real mess. Oswego is long gone now. I even still have a chunk of the starting line when it closed. I even still have an autographed photo from Animal Jim. From 1968 to the day it closed I spent many trips down the track at Oswego.......I still preffered the left lane. With the dust there, we used to call that fine covering of dust "The Oswego Curse".
