Any help on where to get parts for the 292. Any suggestion on parts I "should" get for the 292. Wantin' to "TRY" and squeeze out the best mpg possible. Heard that 4brl primaries are smaller and you can close up the 2, so runnin those 2 should help out a bit? What size should i run on a stock 292??? What about headers, yay nay? who and where would i get them? ANYONE HAVE SOME GLASSPACK CLIPS?!?!?!? I'm an exhaustoholic sooo..send me the clips :-)

I cut off half of my foot. Now I get twice the economy
Which vehicle are you working on?
Well, I don't know much about mileage. I would think a 57 up 4v manifold and distributor with a 390cfm Holley might be best. If you have the funds, install a mild cam - something to enhance the low end. Some headers are no better than manifolds but a good set of headers should help. Raise the compression. Don't know if the trade off of efficiency might be worth the extra $.20 or $.30 at the pump, though. You'd be surprised how much you can increase the performance of an engine and get better fuel economy, IF you can keep your foot out of it.
John Mummert, in California, probably has the best selection of parts.

I have some vids on youtube where you can here my Hooker Aerochamber mufflers. It's a full 2 1/2" system with an x-pipe.

I had glass packs for a while but I removed them before they got me into trouble. It was loud... and good. I never recorded them. I still have them. Might throw them back on, just for fun, one day.

Apache: Another source for rebuild & some performance parts you could try, is Schumann's Sales in Iowa. Ph # 563-381-2416 or Fax 563-381-2409. They claim the largest stock available & their prices are comparable with Mummert, & in some cases better. Also, they recently advertised the the 245 h.p. "D" code 1957 cam, which is not readily available from other sources, as far as I can tell. This is just for info, I have no axe to grind...

NAPA has most of the gaskets. They are Fel-Pros. I just got intake manifold gaskets from Summit but I ordered a Holley 390 carb, intake gaskets, distributor cap and plug wires. I got the Mallory electronic igniton kit a couple of weeks ago.
