I am going to look at a 59 this weekend and the 292 that is in it will be used for the build of the motor for my 55 sunliner so I was wondering what heads should it have.

Jeff. Miker's reference to John Mummert's web site should be helpful, IF the heads were not swapped over time.
Isn't it interesting that such different heads were used on the different makes of FoMoCo vehicles that year in spite of them all having y-blocks?!
Let me add to what JM's reference list for '59 engines shows . . .
292 Ford passenger cars with 292 engine . . . . . 5752-113 heads
292 Ford LD, MD, HD trucks with 292 engine . . . 5750-471 heads
312 Mercury with 312 engine . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 5750-471 heads
292 Edsel with 292 engine . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 5752-113 heads

As Charlie points out, authorised rebuilders & others often swapped out used heads for what they happened to have on the shelf. It was often common practice. My 59- 312 engine came to me with 2 -1956 heads on it & the casting numbers were not a match...

I typically find the ‘113’ heads on unmolested 1958-1959 car engines. Some of the early '58 engines will still have the 'G' heads on them. Unfortunately, there’s not many of those engines sitting ‘round anymore that hasn’t had some of the parts changed out. If the engine has composition head gaskets, then it’s suspect before tearing it down that the engine may not have many of the original parts remaining.
