Oil Filter

Couple of weeks ago I changed oil and filter. First since rebulid, noticed when i started the red oil light stayed on for just  a couple of seconds.  Did not do it with the filter John Mummert used,which was a Ford Motorcraft. Kinda got to thinking, wonder if the new K&N oil filter could be causing it, so yesterday put on a new Ford filter back on. Now oil light does not come on, Ford filter must have some sort of check valve that does not bleed down.  Anyone have an answer to loss of oil pressure??  Anyway will be using Ford  original filters from now on. I figured  K&N is a good name for air filter, so would be good for oil.   God Bless

Hate to talk bad about any products but have had lots of difficulty with Fram oil filters in performance applications where the oil pressure to the engine was inadequate.  Changing to another brand oil filter fixed these particuar instances.  I’ve no experience with the K&N brand of oil filters so can’t help you there.  Personal preference lies in the Motorcraft and Wix brands.

I understand that the NAPA Gold filters are Wix. I have seen them highly recommended by a guy that did a study on about 30 oil filters.

I concur with the Wix recommendation of Ted and Paul.  BTW there is a Wix application for 440 and 426 Chryslers that is identical to the Y block filter in mating to the engine but about 3/4" shorter.  It is very handy to miss my headers.
