what is the difference between a car and a truck timing cover. I have two covers that both have threaded holes on the top of the cover for properly a bolt on acc. ?? If there is a difference is there a difference in the harmonic balancer. Thanks

On truck covers for use with a front mount, the lower 4 bolt bosses are tall enough that about a 3" bolt is used to bolt the ;mount and cover.  Passenger covers have "ears" cast on them and use about 1" long bolts.

Thank you

Some of the early truck timing covers had a high mount water pump

driven off a separate belt. I don't know when the high mounts were discontinued.

Or was it a high mount fan? I forget.

I have a truck timing cover with a square boss on top that has two, 5/16" threaded holes for mounting something. I thought this might have been for some commercial use, but I'm not sure what.
