Good Mornin' all;   Had shift kit installed yesterday and trans guy, remarked that my cam was causing lower vac. He suggested a vac motor to help the power brakes and the vac. valve on trans?  What do you guys think??   John put in a Engle- EP-20 - lift 482-running duration 266-  gross lift 321- duratio @ .050   231deg.  lobe center 110.  What about a vac. storage can or should I go with the electric vac pump???    Many thanks advance!!!!     God Bless

Eddie,

Depends on how and where you drive. If the can has time between stops to recover then it will work. In Stop and go Traffic you'd need the motor, or maybe the vacuum booster version of the mechanical pump, .

A friend of mine has a Plymouth duster. He's using a Crane XE268 cam which gives about 9"hg at idle. He says he notices no difference in the power brakes vs the stock motor. Don't know how the transmission will do, though.

Thanks Frank  and Charlie; Frank you have a good point, most of our driving is going to get a ice cream cone, lotsa start and stop, believe I 'll go with the electric pump.  Charlie I'll keep you posted on the feel of the brakes as well as the trans shift.   Again thank you guys for responding soooo  fast.  Is it snowing in your part of the country Yet???

Eddie,

It never, well hardly ever snows where Charlie lives. Up here it's warm until Labor Day!

Yeah.  It doesn't snow much down here.  If it does it's gone in less than a day.  I got my share living in Montreal.  I don't really care for more snow now.

Use the vacuum wiper style fuel pump w/ a check valve plumbed to a vacuum canister- works slick, looks original... / Duck
