I have a question on the radiator support mounting for my 56 Victoria. While the engine was out I removed the entire radiator core and support. The bottom mounts on the support had two bolts with springs on them. The springs were under the frame. Aren't these supposed to be on top of the frame and under the radiator support?

Also where does the rubber pad go? Mine didn't have one. It seems that the pad would go between the radiator support and the frame with the springs on either side to allow some controlled flex in the front end. Putting the springs between the support and the frame raised my front fenders quite a bit and took out some of the hood and door alingment problems. I've looked but just can't seem to find an exploded view of exactly how these are installed. Please send "pictures" if you've got them. Chuck in NH

The pad goes in the middle between frame and support.I found the replacement pad was too thick and thinned it down on my bench grinder.Trial end error until it was the correct thickness. It can be glued to hold in place while you bolt down the support which compress" it to lock in place. The springs go under the frame brackets to allow flex as you thought.Hope this helps.Regards Mark
