I recently got a Holley carb from a 57 312,and am wondering what size jets would work best.  The 272 is a low mileage, bone stock engine, except for duals and Pertronix ignition.

For you guys talking the other day about freezing rain, I'd almost trade you today. We got 18" of snow here in Mid-Missouri last night!!!!!!!!!

Paul:

I'd start with the jets that are in it.  Basically, a carb measures how much air is flowing through it and adds the correct (?) amount of fuel.  It has no idea whether there is a 272 or a 312 gulping that air.

Be careful what you wish for.  Here in Hoosierland we usually get freezing rain, then snow on top of that.  Talk about SLICK!!!

Paul,

Just to be safe, I assume your "bone stock" 272 is a '57 and not an earlier car with Loadamatic distributor?

I'm not positive, but a '57 Holly carb would likely not send the proper vacuum signal to operate a pre '57 advance mechanism?

Daniel,

Yes it is a later model distributor,out of a 292 in a 60 truck.Thanks
