I would like feedback from anyone who has had direct dealings with Rocker Arms Unlimited and/or Damper Doctor, both of which are located in Redding, CA. Thanks.

I misspoke on my damper. Damper Dudes in Anderson California turned my damper around in one day. Came back looking great. $150

Damper Doctor has been around for years. Their work is good, fast and reasonable. I have never used Rocker Arms Unlimited.

Rocker Arms Unlimited - just a phone call away and very helpful. Their customer service is outstanding. I have purchased from them several times this year and I must say that I am highly impressed.

Well Dan, I think that's probably enough attaboys for you, but surely they have more than one customer?

I have a friend who just recently got a damper refurbished for a FE, 428 CJ, from Damper Doctor, and the damper came apart the first start up of engine. They caught it before it ruined the water pump, radiator, and possible killed someone. This just happened last month, so I do not endorse Damper Doctor for damper rebuild. Joe-JDC

missing some words there...
But I will say when questions like these are asked about businesses that service our unique needs to the Y block, some things come to mind:
1. There are very few in the auto parts industry that carry Y block parts. 2. In the present day customer service is a serious problem, not just in the auto parts world but in many businesses that provide retail and/or rebuild services. 3. I've had my fair share of problems from various companies so when I do run across a business that has good quality control and good customer service - they tend to stick out in my mind. 4. LOL - I do hope Rocker Arms Unlimited has more than one customer... as I recall it was someone on this site that recommended them to me a few years back.

I've had Damper Doctor do a couple of dampers. No problems with them and if I remember correctly, they were returned within a reasonable time

For years I used Damper Doctor for damper rebuilding when it was required. About three plus years ago I had a pair of Damper Doctor rebuilt dampers that had the damper rings become loose and potentially falling off after a short period of time. I was lucky enough to catch the problem before real damage was done. In the middle of all that, there was another Y damper that had the damper ring installed backwards and while easy enough to correct on their end, it was indicative of some serious quality control issues taking place on their end. But damper rings coming loose had me looking for another damper rebuilder. If it’s a Thunderbird specific damper, I’ll have Damper Dudes rebuild it. If I need to do something with a stock style of damper, I’ll opt for a new replacement damper.

55BlackTie, DamperDoctor turned my damper around very quickly. They were attentive and straightened out the pulleys on my 57 Bird. Sweeptee

I have a rocker arm refacing fixture on my valve grinder , if you were to need that done. As for Damper Doctor I've never had any work done by them just replaced with a new damper.

how does your fixture work i have one on my valve grinder but its useless as it will only grind the rockers flat.

Yes it’s a fixture on a Sioux valve grinder. It puts the original arch on the rocker face.
