do i need to hook up a generator and radiator to test fire an engine?
i just want to see if this cool old engine will fire up and idle.
i'm trying to do this on the cheap right now.

Shouldn't be a problem. Just make sure the engine is secure. I usually hook my engine hoist on to hold the engine in place and upright. I leave the engine on the floor with a couple of wood blocks to support the pan. Do not whack the throttle! It will try to turn turtle. If you are only going to test for fire up and idle you don't need the generator or radiator but don't run it for more than a few minutes. It takes a while to get heat in the block but then it "runs away" real quick. Chuck in NH
