Y-Guys        This may have been addressed before so, please

excuse me for the second go-around. What are the basic

          safety requirements for the "Shoot-Out".

Radiator catch can? Rear mount kill switch? Battery in truck

bed, must it be enclosed? Driveshaft hoop? ?    ?    ?

                                Thanks in advance Bill

Depends on how fast you plan on running. For our "stock" class its catch can drivers seat belt and neutral safety switch(they haven't checked this on mine in years). Catch can can be any type of bottle that will catch overflow. Plastic quart jugs work well. The other stuff is nice, maybe even smart, but not required. Driver must wear long pants (no shorts for fire safety)and have a valid state drivers license. I'm sure some of the other guys will chime in on this but its generally just the basics. Are you still planing to run out together? Chuck in NH

Is the neutral safety switch rule only for automatics?

As far as I know Charlie you should be fine. I think the seat belt and the catch can are the biggest things they look for until you get real fast! Chuck in NH

Helmets are also required for the quicker cars and likely need to be at least a SNELL 95 rating.  Not sure of the et where the helmets become a requirement but likely 13.99 and quicker.  But bring a helmet or have one available in case I missed on the e.t..  I’ll also bring a couple of spare helmets for at least a couple of Y guys that get caught not having a helmet.  Was going to look some of this stuff up in the NHRA rules book but find I loaned it out and failed to get it back.

you know, they may require shoes!!!! It's hot down here in'Bama

and I'll have to go across the hollow to me'maw's house to dig

out the flannels. Reckon them Aussie Y-Guys may bring a spare pair

of britiches for this old guy since it's still cold down in them parts?

If you're are running a tbird with no top or open car, I believe you have to use a helmet no matter what your et. Not a bad idea, even if I am wrong. w00t

Cool! I'll be happy if I can get into the 15's. Seat belts should go in this weekend but the weather forecast doesn't look too good. I hope it doesn't rain. Rain this weekend will most likely force me to have to put it off until next year. Might get the bucket seat bracket fabrication done tonight, though.
