I am interested in rewiring my engine compartment in my 55 Bird but I would like to "hide" the wires. Is there a harness for this or do you do it yourself? If so any instruction on how to do that. All that wiring just looks bad . I would like to get rid of it . Thanks

If by all that wiring you mean the individual wires, I always wrap the wires in electrical tape. This way, all you have is a harness. You can break up the wiring according to function (lights, ignition) so you have two or three separate harnesses. Makes everything look neat and orderly.

I did an aftermarket harness on my 54 this way, and it looks like a factory wiring harness, only some what neater.

Hey Birdman;  I used a Ron Francis wire loom, built for the 55 Bird with a 12 volt conversion, hide all wiring under fenders and across front of blkhead.  They are very generous with their wires, however I had to lengthen some wire because I put the 21 circut fuse panel in the trunk!!  My battery is also in the trunk and our a/c condensor is under rt. front fender with a electric fan.  Fancis company was great in deal with, and could answer all my questions. Especially when wiring the turn signal switch.   Hope this helps.  God Luck!!!!!       Not hard just takes time!!!      God Bless

Do you have an alternator on your car? Did the harness have wiring for stock components or did they make it for your specific needs.

I have A/C ,Alt,12v everything, lots of wires hanging . Just want the look of no wires as you describe.

Told them what I had on the car and they builded it accordingly.  Yes i have an alternator, electric wipers, am/fm, electric fan on condensor. with original wheel and turn signal switch.  Good Luck
