I have a 1954 Ford Station Wagon with a bad 239 Y-Block V8 .  It is toast.  I decided a swap to a 272 or 292 was the best solution.  I have been waiting and I found a 272 (11 ECC D?) in good condition.  It is a short block with good heads available.  I need to look at it but I think $250.00 is a fair price.  Don't you?
Is it a "direct" swap.  I know the bell housings match but what about the exhaust manifolds, headers, generator brackets, 3 speed shift linkages, etc.?
  Any insight is appreciated.
  Thanx, in advance.
  Steve

$250 is a fair price for a core engine in good condition.

Everything you mentioned is a even swap. If your going to use the front steady rest, the 54 rest will not work with the 272 damper so you have to use a 55/56 rest.
