Thanks Brian,Thats the kind of info I was looking for, all the old vehicles that I have done any painting on, I have had to buy 2 or 3 pints of what they thought was close and do test areas or panels. Even when they come and shoot a vehicle for me the color still comes out way off and I have had many people tell me they have had no luck with those $50,000.00 guns as far as matching paint goes.
Its getting rediculous and expensive because they don't give me each pint to try, I have to buy it. Also I have Ditzler books with the paint codes back to the 30's with every code from lawnmowers to helicopters to bicycles, refrigerators, snowblowers you name it but nobody can cross reference anything and the PPG people deleted everything from their system prior to 70, 79 or some year in that era.
But just because I give them one of these codes, does not mean I will get a match the first time, I am sure it is still going to be trial and error before they get it right. What happened to the old laquers, enamels and acrylics???
