Moz, I'll check prices tomorrow, I know Autozone wants $58 US for without a core, But I'm not sure I'd trust their stuff. Let me check NAPA.

Frank: I don't know who rebuilds NAPA distributors in the U.S., but the NAPA one I bought North of the border, not that long ago, is a suspect rebuild. I can't get a decent Dwell reading with it. When I inquired here, It was suggested that the Cam is probably worn. Anyway, best look at their rebuilds closely..

Desoto: I may be corrected on the "Tang" drives, but as far as I know, they were only found on 1954- 239 ohv engines & possibly on 1955- 239 Pickup truck engines. Later 272 & up engines all use the hex drive.

Paul, Do you mean the distributor Cam? Another thought, check the end play, if it jumps up and down that will affect everything. I'll probably find NAPA and AutoZone get them from the same place. I'd bet yours came from the same source as the US version will. All they'd do is send across the border and raise the price 50%!

Later 272 & up engines all use the hex drive.This may be true, But i came up with a 55-56 Mercury 292 that come from a boat & it has the tang drive & a Mallory Distributor. So ya just never know & it don't hurt to ask since hes so far away. Any reason NOT to run the tang drive ? Sure looks a bunch stronger than the Flimsy Hex Drive that seem ALWAYS broken.

no problems, earl according to aussie 60 minutes tonight australia's oil reserve's are running out ours is only shale oil no good for lubrication but makes good fuel which we wont have soon so were making ethenol out of sugar funny thing is they say you can drink it they call it rocket fuel but i think it's moonshine.

If it is moonshine you could bottle it up and sell it to the Saudis or trade it for oil . I am from North Carolina and my Dad was a "revenuer" . Which means he was a tax man chasing the moonshiners here for tax money on the stuff they made and he blew up a lot of stills. He would keep a gallon for a souvenir and one night I "borrowed" a gallon. I replaced the shine with water and one day he grabbed that gallon and I guess you can figure out the rest. Some "shine" is Good. Some and I guess most of it made in the old days will kill you.They used to run it through old car radiators. Moonshine and anti-freeze is a deadly combination. Maybe we need to send some to Iraq and Afghanistan. Wish we had thought of that in 'Nam. Monday is a holiday and no mail service. So, wont mail it out till tuesday. G'day mate

i think i read somewhere once the moonshiners would throw some in the gas tank for a bit extra speed when they were doing deliverys you wouldnt want to let it get into the wrong hands though it would make a pawerful weapon i think. g'day mate goes first earl its how we say hello, goodbye is just normal or we say catch ya.

G'day Mate, I know it was confusing to me . I was in the hospital there recovering from being wounded in 'Nam and everybody said Aloha when they came and when they left. I used to go crazy with that word. I thought for a long time it meant good day. So, I say it here to my friends and they lookm at me with the same confusion. Just one of the things I do. Catch ya. no problems earl i will be nice to this one i dont often floor it but since my hearing returned ive done it a few times so i can hear it at full yell i must have done it one to many times & bang it stripped it but that dizzy was never in the best condition anyway.
