Fellas- I tried a search for this first, but I guess I couldn't get the parameters right (?) so I had no luck. It seems many moons ago I read something (and I'm pretty sure it was hereBigGrin) about what modifications had to be done in order to use a SBC balancer on a Y-block. The T-bird balancer I took to the machine shop in order to internally balance everything is giving them fits. It seems the pulley sheaves will not spin true (concentric(?) and therefore creates a "wobble". These are some smart guys, however I came away from a telephone conversation with the impression they can't seem to get their minds around the problem. I told them I'd see what I could come up with in the way of a solution. Is the scrub balancer the answer? Thanks /Duck

Duck:

A long time ago I made an adaptor to put a scrub balancer on my Y, but it was a passenger car, not a T-Bird.  I wrote an article for Y Block Magazine about it.  Someone in Alabama, I think used to advertise on ebay modern balancers made to fit Birds.  I don't know him, maybe someone else here does.

Keep in mind that the balancer is not, in a sense, a balancer like a 289/302 Ford. YBlocks are internally balanced so the "balancer " should be zero imbalance. The is a guy that rebuilds there, DR something or something DR, but i can't remember his name.

Using “ATI Damper” or “harmonic balancer” in the search bar will have several past threads coming up.  Here’s a couple of links.
