Does anybody have a 55-56 Ford standard 3 speed transmission laying on the floor that they can go measure and tell me how long it is? Also how many splines it has on the input shaft. I'd appreciate it a ton. Thanks

I figured you'd have an answer by now.  Guess there aren't many '56 transmissions laying around.  Anyway, today I measured one in my barn.  From the tip of the input shaft to the front face of the trans case is 5 7/8".  From the front face to the tip of the output shaft is 28 1/2".  Input shaft is 1" with 10 splines.  Output is about 1.170" with 16 splines.  Hope this helps.

It helps a ton John. Exactly what I needed to know. The T-85 I looked at was 27 1/2 from the bellhousing mount to the end of the tail shaft. Seems mine must be about an inch longer. I really appreciate it. Thanks a bunch .. I was beginning to think nobody on here had one laying around and I was afraid I was gonna have to get up under mine and measure it. Thanks again ..
