I have this part left over from installing the cam in my 292. Is it for a Y-block motor?

It slips over the cam, but I can't figure where it would go. thanks Phil

That is the counter weight that gos behind your fuel pump eccentric on the camshaft.

Seems when I positioned it behind the fuel pump thingie it didn't catch the keyway.

That counterbalance or an equally thick spacer needs to be installed.  If it can't go on, something isn't right.

Wow, the link to previous post seems both like yesterday, and 10 years ago!

The picture originally posted by Buns is pertinent enough to move over to this post while also making it permanent to this site and not hosted over in Photobucket where it can eventually be lost.  So here it is again.

And here’s another link to a discussion regarding the fuel pump counterweight.

I had a similar problem and found I had switched the two spacers. As was mentioned the one with a bevel (6287) goes against the cam. The other (6265) behind the cam bolt. When assembled the counter weight would not engage the keyway. Chuck in NH
