I found a "Model #300 Universal P & G Valve Gapper" included in a box of tools at an auction. I originally wanted one of the other tools, but saw the gapper in the box and thought I would take a chance. The unit appears to be complete except for instructions. Dial indicator moves freely, has barrels #2, #3, #8 with springs and plastic ends, 4 "U shaped" collars 2 ea with an "S" stamped in and 2 thinner ones with letters "H" & "J". Can this be set up to be used on the 292/312 Y-Blocks? Any one have instructions to scan and send or able to tell me what to use and how to use it? I have found some info on line, but it was for a model #111 which is a bit different looking, but will probably function the same way. I have an extra set of heads to practice on but thought the correct info would be helpful. Thanks in advance for any help you can give. J not4winter@yahoo.com

You need the "X" horseshoe base adapter for Y-Block/FE (stock retainer) use. H1 and U2 adapters are needed if you have aftermarket (Isky/Crane. etc.) retainers. The #2 barrel is for Y-Block/FE. If I were you, I would watch eBay for another P&G 300 (incomplete or damaged item might go cheap?), put together a Y-Block setup using the best parts, and list/resell the rest to someone with another car brand.
If successful, let me know and I will mail you complete instruction copies. The 300 is (in my opinion) the best model, and an absolutely essential tool.

Thanks for all the help, the links and for the pictures from Oldmics. From what saw it looks like I may need a base adaptor size "X" to fit a Y-block. Will have to get the extra heads off the shelf and see if its possible re-machine an adaptor to fit and learn how this gizmo works. Will do a bit of research and perhaps post on a GM or Chrysler forum to see if I can find someone to trade an H or J for a X base. The price paid was worth it just for the other tools in the box, so I certainly can't complain for taking a chance on the unknown. Thanks again J
