I have posted on the HAMB a need for a radiator for my '56. Some are telling me I can use a 65 -68 Mustang radiator. I just don't see it. Mine is 18.5" wide and 19" high at the core. The over all is 23" wide and 25" high. The Mustang V8 ones have both inlet and outlet on the passenger side. The 6 cylinder one is configured right. However, mine has a 1.5" top hose and about a 2" bottom hose. I don't see any way for this to work. Y'all are the Ford experts here, what do ya think? These old '56 radiators are expensive as hell!

A 54-59 radiator will fit . 6 or 8 cylinder enging. Cant help you about the mustang one. I would not think it wuld fit unless you rework the mounting points

Thanks Bird, I was told a '57 up one would not fit. If it would that would be great because a '57 one is not near as expensive as a '56 one is. Seems like '54, '55 & '56 ones are made of gold.

'57-'59 radiators are considerably wider than '54-'56. The radiator cap is at the extreme left side of the top tank on '57-'59, it is centered on the '56. The '54 uses a smaller lower hose than '55-'56. The pre-67 Mustangs had 6s or 289 V8s that were easy to cool, so the radiators were sized accordingly. In 68 big blocks were available, so bigger radiators were also available. They probably aren't bolt-ins, but may be adaptable to a '56. John in Selma, IN

My ford interchange manual says the 54-59 6&8 cylinder car radiators will fit the 56. Thats all I know.

Thanks guys, I'll keep checkin' all of this stuff. I found a '56 on ebay but it's $380 about twice what a Mustang one is and a lot more than a '57 from the same place ... Thanks again ..
