Carl, I could also use a kick down rod for a 56 car with 4bbl. I think the 2 and 4 were the same but not sure. Mine has the adjustable open clevis at the carb linkage end. Chuck

Check out your local NAPA store for a 57 up rebuilt dist! I bought 3 a few months ago and the price was right. If I remember they were around 50 bucks. On a different note Carquest still has rebuilt water pumps for the car engine, around $30 each. You will be surprised at what is still available if you can talk the counter person into digging around in the old parts books. The best thing you can do is get one person at the store interested in your project, let them know what you want, and give them a few days too research the old books. Another good tip is to ask them for outdated parts books as they replace them with new ones and look up the numbers yourself then call and see if the part is still available. Takes a little time to develope a relationship, but it has worked for me. Didn't mean to get on my soapbox, but maybe it will help you down the road.

NAPA has them but they are an exchange only item. If you catch a decent guy he may sell you one straight up or if you get an idiot he may not know the difference and take an old type in exchange. Try them out! Chuck

Carl, Do you have a flexplate for a 59-62 cruise o matic y-block? Thanks. Butch
|
By carl - 18 Years Ago
|
Butch How is the flex plate different from a 55 56 fordamatic.i parted out a 62 ford a couple of years ago with a 292 and it had a cruisamatic i sold the alum bellhousing but should still have flexplate.can you describe it Carl

Carl, The earlier Ford O Matic's had the ring gear attached to the torque converter and the flexplate was a sort of square looking device. The later Cruise O Matic had the ring gear attached to the flex plate like all the other later model Fords. The key is whether or not the ring gear is attached to the flex plate or the torque converter. Hope this helps. Butch

I haven't been able to find my receipts for the ones that I bought and the parts house kept the boxes to return the cores in. I have them, just have to remember where the receipts are. I had a good list of part numbers going at work before I retired, but the Cyber police wiped it from my DOD computer before I could retreve it. I have found when hunting common parts at NAPA, it is better to ask them for a 63 or 64 pickup part. They seem too be more responsive.

Carl,
I need the later model Y-Block pulleys ( narrow belt ) fro the crank and the water pump. The water pump pulley should be the large Dia like found on a pick up.
Can you help me?
