I have a 55 Fairlane with a V8 272 with a Holly 4 barrel carb, I want to run a dry type air filter system  on the car and put the oil bath on just for shows.

Can anyone tell me the brand or part number of a filter that would work and would I have to make any adjustments to the

carb settins?

I have put paper elements inside the original oil bath housing.  That way you could use it all the time and it would always look original.

I purchased one of the medium diameter chrome aftermarket air filter assemblys at the auto parts store.  I used the base form the aftermarket aircleaner and welded it inside of the oil bath after cutting the bath part out with a cut off wheel.   The aftermarket lid can be tack welde inside the original lid.  I found different heights of air filter elements avaliable at NAPA, but the one from the aftermarket chrome air filter worked for the '54 victoria I did, as I welded the base in at the right height after some trial fitting.

Make sure and watch how the air flow actually flows through the oil bath housing to make sure the new paper element actually filters the air.
