Is 2 1/2" too much?

I received a pair of two 2 1/2" glasspacks for x-mas and was goin to use them on my 4.6 swap.. I've decided to keep it original, it 2 1/2" gonna be too much for the exhaust? I was planning on also puttin on some dumps, so maybe if it is too much back pressure, I could "kick it out" and make some bends like DENVERDAVE here http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=152274 ? Or will 2 1/2" be ok, and should i make a twist off dump like TOMMY http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=152274 ?

Personally think 2 1/2 would be fine.  Below is my tired 272 with headers and 2 1/2 pipes. Personally preference is the deeper sound.  Bing

I got no extra room beneath my car so I go with 2 1/4. Even that is hard to get fit.
