Since white grease tends to dry out and get gummy over time, I wonder if there is a better product than Lubriplate available these days?

I use wheel bearing grease - never had a problem

Theoretically, it seems to me that if black moly or bearing grease didn't dry out, you wouldn't have to keep lubing wheel bearings or ball joints (if you never drive in the rain). What about graphite? I have also heard about a new white Lubriplate-type formula that resists drying.
