Item number: 290307437257 Ebay item, anyone know anything about these things.  I am just curious.

They were the only thing available in the 50-60's for our cars. Not real efficient but looked good. I guess they flow better than stock! Last set I saw went for over $600.w00t Chuck in NH

I purchased Patriot Headers, new off a guy on ebay, and have seen the in mid fifties etc, they go for about 250.00 new and they should  last a few years, i use a copper agent on the studs when installing so I can change them easily when needed.

The Patriot headers wont fit in the early cars. We have interference with the steering box and motor mounts. The only new ones available are "Reds" and they have some problems, or Jerry Christinensons setup.

The Fenton are just old and cool but not real efficient. Chuck in NH

Chuck,

Patricks, in Arizona, is going to make a run of New Fentons.

By Cactus - 16 Years Ago
How efficient do you think that they will be?  I like the looks of them, but if the are not better than stock I believe that I will pass.
By pegleg - 16 Years Ago
Probably no better than the '57 up manifolds, but you'd need to try a set to find out. Tongue
By MikeLongIsland - 16 Years Ago
the patriots fit my 56 f100, with the stock steering box, and anything is more effcient than those stock manifolds with the front cross over
By MoonShadow - 16 Years Ago
I talked to him several times and he wouldn't budge. Glad he changed his mind. Now if the price is decent. The scrub 6 manifolds they make aren't bad at all. Chuck in NH

The 312 dyno mule I’m putting together is not far from being ready to do some testing and one of the first items on the agenda is some header testing.  If I had a set of Fenton’s here (on loan of course) when test time comes, those can be tested against the stock exhaust manifolds.  Besides a variety of tube headers to test, plans also include testing both the 1956 and 1957 manifolds just for a comparison between those two so a pair of Fentons added into the fray would be good.

Have you acquired some Rams Horn manifolds, Ted?
By Eddie Paskey - 16 Years Ago
Good Mornin' guys;;   Sure like my Sandersons,  work well, look well, and Fit well.  Their design (for tbird)  goes over the steering col, then down into exhaust pipe.  Used them with stock ex. manifolds--  also used them with Flaming River rack and pinion---   did not like the rack so changed to saginaw power steering box which is just right.  Sandersons fit thru all of these changes.  Just info-- maybe will help someone.   Thanks everyone for all the info that flows!!!   God Bless   Eddie

I can talk to him and see if he'll loan us a pair. Not sure if the test on one of your engines would equate to the results on a near stocker though.

Don’t have a set of those.  If someone can loan a pair, I’ll include those in the testing.

Frank/Rebop

The header and exhaust testing will be performed on a 060 over 312 that’s going to be close to stock other than the camshaft and the intake manifold.  The heads are unposted G’s with minimal port work as this is the engine that is initially planned to be used for aluminum head testing.  Use of this engine for testing is by design as it mimics the modifications performed by many end users in their daily drivers.

Ted if you need a set of Ram Horns to test I can borrow you a old set that I have. Their not pretty but their in good shape.

I have a set you can use as well. The only functional problem with mine is that the holes at the exhaust pipe flange are pretty rough. One is stripped if I'm remembering right. I just used a nut and bolt to hold it together.

If someone is going to re cast new Fenton's, it might be worth their while, to try and improve the flow some. Given the small market, an improved product would be a lot more likely to sell..

These things sold for $872, can you beliueve it?????!!!???

Aw shucks..........I was gonna bid
By Cactus - 16 Years Ago
I bid 400 dollars on these things thinking that was way too much and that I might get them for less than that.  Surprise, surpise.   Just think that for another 800 dollars this fool could have purchased the Paxton supercharger kit, and really had something.   There is one born every second.

Paul, Patricks owns the name and is remaking them now.

By 2DRHRDTP57 - 16 Years Ago
I see they went for over $8 Hundy....whew..
By speedpro56 - 16 Years Ago
Frank, what does Paul sell them for and how can we get in touch with him?
By pegleg - 16 Years Ago
Gary, Google "Patricks" they're in Arizona. Think it's around 300.
By Butch Lawson - 16 Years Ago
I talked to Patrick yesterday.  He says they have been cast and are being machined now.  About six weeks away from being ready.  Cost will be $300 per set.

If you wanna call Patrick's about the fenton y-block headers his PH: # is 520-836-1117 . I'd like to know if they out perform the stock 57 headers and by (how much if they do) before investing $300 which seems reasonable.
By 63 Red Stake Bed - 16 Years Ago
I happen to have a set of these.

I have a truck, & don't know how long before I'll have the dough to use these on an old fairlane, or other car. I'd be up for a little horse trading to get my supercharger for my truck!

I need the works, Whatcha' guys got?

By davis - 16 Years Ago
anybody post a pic of the fentons?

The whole thing about Fenton's is they are vintage hot rod, they flow only slightly better (what did we know about it then) and the LOOK COOL! I would like to see a comparison done on them with stock, rams horns and available headers (TED?) but would still love to have a set! ANDBigGrin those were CHROME! Chuck in NH
By Unibodyguy - 16 Years Ago
Chuck I second that vote on the flow test between different manifolds.

By speedpro56 - 16 Years Ago
The test will determine whether I buy a set or not and they need too be more than slightly better than the 57s and up.If they can make several more HP and ft lbs of torque then I'm probably a buyer. Let's hear it Ted as if enough isn't already resting on your shouldersTongue It looks as if you''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''re the manBigGrin

Just need a set of Fentons for testing.  Have been testing a few of the header designs that are here on various engines as I go along but a serious test on exhaust systems will take place on a near stock +060 312 once the engine is reassembled.  That engine is a being a bear right now in that 4 of the 5 cam bearing holes are undersized (by as much as 0.006”) and to compound this issue they are not aligned from one end to the other either either.  Will be boring the cam journal holes in the block oversize in which to straighten the holes and get the camshaft to rotate freely and without carving on the bearings which would have created an excess of bearing clearance on the rear cam bearing if done this way.  Still hope to have this particular block ready to preassemble in a couple of weeks or soon thereafter.
