Rather than continuing to hijack another thread, I'll start my own...

Block Numbers: ECK 6015

Head Numbers: ECK

Intake:  ECB (4 bbl)

Carb:  Teapot

Valve Covers: Merc

Entire engine is painted blue.  I ran the numbers over at Mummerts.  They tell me it's a '56 Merc.  So, do I have a marine engine?   The intake paint and repaint (yellow over blue) matches the rest of the engine in regards to the type and color of paint.  I know marine engines had different intakes, so I really don'tknow what I have.  It doesn't really matter, I'm just curious. Thanks in advance.

well if you have yellow paint, that's usually the sign of a truck block ;-)

And my fiends local 56 Mercury has a green motor color thats a Yblock. According to the VIN number its supposed to be a 312. He's the 2nd owner, bought it from the person who bought it new.

the bottom (old/original) layer is blue, the top (newer) layer is yellow.  The funny thing is, they both look abotu the same age, as far as wear and tear go...either way, I'm taking it back to Ford Blue...jsut wondering if you guys ever heard of a CAR block being blue....thanks anyhow.
